He moved from his natal Barcelona to NYC in 1990 to attend Parsons School of Design and later the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Communications. In the mid-nineties, he worked as associate fashion director at Donna Karan New York, until 2000 when he became a freelance fashion editor and stylist. Bernat has worked for numerous publications both in Europe and the U.S. such as Vogue Spain, Vogue Aràbia El País Semanal, Wallpaper, Time, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, Interview, Número France among other. He has also collaborated as creative consultant for various designers, ranging from Custo Barcelona to Isabel Toledo.
His client list also includes brands like Carolina Herrera, Gloria Vanderbilt and Jean Patou Parfum among others.
